Aang is the titular protagonist of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang), which premiered on Nickelodeon in February 2005.
Aang is the latest incarnation of the Avatar, a being destined to master all four elements (water, earth, fire, and air) and maintain balance in the world. He is an Air Nomad, specifically from the Southern Air Temple, and the last of his people after the Fire Nation's genocide.
